What Does Embers Credit Union Do With Your Personal Information?

Why? Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.
What?
The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have
with us. This information can include:

  • Social Security number and account balances
  • credit card or other debt and credit history
  • payment history and transaction or loss history
When you are no longer our member, we continue to share your information as described in this
notice.
How? All financial companies need to share members’ personal information to run their everyday
business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their members’
personal information; the reasons Embers Credit Union chooses to share; and whether you can limit
this sharing.

How does Embers Credit Union protect my information? To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
How does Embers Credit Union collect my personal  information?
We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • open an account or give us your income information
  • provide employment information or apply for financing
  • give us your contact information
State law and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.
Why can’t I limit all sharing? Federal law gives you the right to limit only
  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes –information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you

Affiliates
Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and non-financial companies.

  • Embers Credit Union does not share with our nonaffiliates so they can market to
    you.
Joint Marketing
A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market
financial products or services to you.
  • Our joint marketing partners include mortgage companies and insurance
    companies and members financial services.
DIGITAL BANKING

Our digital banking app may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device.  This access can include records such as your phone number, home address, or email address. We will use this contact information to alert you about events or actions that require your attention. If you grant permission to use your contact information, we may use that information to pre-populate certain forms for contacting you. If you grant permission to use your device’s location, we will use that data when checking for nearby branch and ATM locations. If you grant permission to access photos, media or other files stored on your device, we may use that information to add an image to a transaction, to attach a document to a chat, or to add a photo to your profile. If you grant permission to use your device’s camera, we will use it when taking a picture to add an image to a transaction, or to capture images of a check that is being deposited, or to add a photo to your profile. If you wish to change access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings.

Requests to delete collected information must be sent to us in one of the following ways:

  • By emailing your request to Embers Credit Union at embers@embers.org or
  • In person at one of our branch locations.

Please note that we will not be able to immediately delete information that we are required by regulation to keep for certain timeframes, and requests to delete or no longer collect information might result in losing certain functionality in our digital banking app. For example, we are required by the Check 21 Act to retain check images you provide to us for a period of 7 years, and if you do not grant permission to use your device’s camera you will not be able to use the mobile deposit function.

USE OF COOKIES

We use different types of cookies to track your use of our website.  A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer when you visit a website that enables us to: (1) recognize your computer; (2) store your preferences and settings; (3) understand the web pages of the Website you have visited;(4) perform searches and analytics; and (5) assist with security administrative functions. Some cookies are placed in your browser cache. Tracking pixels (sometimes referred to as web beacons or clear GIFs) are tiny electronic tags with a unique identifier that are embedded in websites, online ads, and/or email and are designed to provide usage information like page clicks, measure popularity of the Website and associated content, and access user cookies. We may update this Policy from time to time as we adopt new technologies to gather additional information through other methods. Cookies are not required for full functionality of our website.
